Lexy Farris, also known as D.J. L.A., is currently a senior in the Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. She will be graduating in May of 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Arts. Lover of all things music and media, she currently works for the UGA student-run radio station, WUOG, and is an intern in the Sports Sponsorship and Brand Activation department at Turner Sports. Her work with WUOG as a D.J. and active member of the local music committee has opened her eyes to multiple genres of music. Living in a town such as Athens that is known around the nation for the groundbreaking groups and musical styles it has produced has allowed her to learn a great deal about music as a whole. Her main musical interests stem from live concerts, but she appreciates the allure of a well-produced album as well, and does not discriminate against any one particular genre. In writing for Radio Casbah, she hopes to give light to some artists that are not as well known and to provide a look into the unique and musically inclined town of Athens.
